Rose Candy… Contemporary Artist. Los Angeles, California.

July 25, 2025.

Welcome.. Here is a quick look at what is on my web-site .

All of the sculptural organic forms are left unglazed . An early idea that I worked on at OCAD,Toronto,Ontario.Canada and continue to create forms spinning off of my original idea to this day.

The vase on the right of your screen is beautiful ceramic round vase with a glossy deep slightly mottled surface with a slight crystal look made with a stoneware clay body and is fired to 2230 degrees Fahrenheit in an electric kiln. My clay is from Laguna Clay from the City of Industry, California.. Clay #WS 401. I use various clays that give different results with the same glaze.

This amazing deep blue glossy glaze is a mix of glazes that I have from Robin Hoppers workshop. Richard Zakins workshop and my studio formulas . Robin Hopper shared their glaze formulas when held at The Potters Studio in Toronto .Richard Zakins Zinc White is one I have occasionally tried along with his Mouse Black which is much like Ron Roys Licorice glaze. I do have in my studio for inside of functional cups Roy Roys Clear Glossy Glaze. The glaze formulas from OCADU .. Ceramics Department were cone 9 reduction formulas that I fired in an electric/oxidation kiln. I was pleased with the results of a soft subtle glaze . They worked well on a commission I had. Over the years all glaze formulas have been reformulated creating new glazes that I make. All glazes are Brandy Science Centre tested for lead along with other chemicals that are needing testing according to each glaze formula creating a safe , functional glaze .

I have worked with liquitex acrylic paint for over 30 years along with testing different paints like oil , watercolor and included pencil and pens in my work. Acrylics allow easily a non structure wash of acrylic paint in the background of this painting combining small organic shapes within a structure of many semi circles combined with a full circle. This painting is one of three that bring amazing colors to the viewer. They were fun to create. It was definitely an improvisational venture. Just recently I have been working with water mixable oils by Winsor Newton and Cobra.

Thank you for visiting. Check out more of my work along with visiting my store. Contact me for any questions you may have or just to say hello . I will keep you on my e-mail list. Yours truly, Rose Candy
